Sally McCarrick Memorial Fiber Creations Competition
The Gallery honors Sally McCarrick, our fellow enthusiast, who found constant challenge and reward in working with fiber. Sally always encouraged and appreciated the work of others, from novice to expert, and especially the efforts of young people.

Skein Competition Guidelines & General Rules
- All Fiber Division General Rules apply.
- All work must be original and completed by the entrant within the last 18 months.
- All entries must be made from at least 75% natural fiber.
- A 3" x 5" information card should be attached to the entry and may describe the fiber sorce, type of fiber, color and technique.
- Yar may be either handspun or commercially prepared.
Judging: The emphasis of judging will be on craftsmanship, originality, composition and suitability of fiber to product. Entries will be judged according to, but not restricted to, the listed skill levels, divisions and categories. Categories may be combined as needed.
This year's judges will be--
- Knitting - Cheryl Hoffman from Newberg, Oregon
Cheryl has been knitting for 50 years and spinning for 25. She is the owner of knitting and crochet shop Molehill Farm in Lake Oswego, Oregon. She has been published in the Shuttle, Spindle, Dye Pot, Knitting and Knit Style. She has completed the requirements to receive the Craft Yarn Council Certificate. - Felting - Vivian Goldstein, Waldport, Oregon
Vivian began knitting in junior high when she knitted a sweater for her sister. She believes knitting is a wonderful way to relax and express one's creativity while making it as challenging as one chooses. She has especially enjoyed knitting with yarn from alpacas her family has raised. - Weaving - Barbara Walker, Salem, Oregon
Barbara is passionate about weaving and ply-splitting. She was awarded the Master Certificate of Excellence in Handweaving from Handweavers Guild of America in 1990. She has conducted workshops and seminars for guilds and conferences in the U.S., England, and Canada, is an enthusiastic educator and has had numerous articles published in Handwoven, Weavezine, Complex Weavers Journal, The Journal for Weavers, Spinners and Dyers, Weaver's, and Shuttle, Spindle & Dyepot. - Crocheting Marie Gettman from Ritzville, WA
Marie was one of the original members of the NwRSA. She chaired the committee that developed the NwRSA judging standards and chaired the Judging Standards Committee for over twenty years. She enjoys various fiber arts but favors crochet.

That is, from the animal or raw fiber to the finished product.
