WS 822 Cacti & Succulents
Fee $ 75 Needle Felting
Instructor: Heidi Leugers
When: 1:30 PM-4:30 PM Friday, September 21st
Skill Level: Advanced Beginner – Intermediate
These cacti and succulents work up faster than students with basic needle felting skills can imagine! In this beyond-the-basics/intermediate needle felting class Heidi will demonstrate and teach how to sculpt wool interpretations of cacti and succulents with her signature needle felting methods. Topics will include how to source and make use of interesting wool waste material for plant “cores,” how to source and choose the right fibers to create compact forms, fun ways to employ yarns and rovings for detailed and convincing embellishment, and how to blend fibers for lovely, rich optical mixing. Students can expect to finish one to two needle felted plants and mount them in a pot depending on their personal skill level.
Students should bring: All materials and tools will be provided, including one small terra cotta/ceramic pot reclaimed from a thrift store. Students should bring note-taking materials and are encouraged to bring their own pots, needle felting tools, and favorite fibers if they feel so inspired. A discount of 10% will be given to all students to purchase additional materials from Heidi’s booth, Reclaimed Wool, at anytime during the weekend
